Since the 14th Street Bridge Improvement Project began in spring 2007, Midtown Transportation Solutions has been working with Midtown area employers, property managers, and commuters to reduce at least 10 percent of motorized vehicles from area roads during peak commute times to avoid gridlock. This campaign effort is called First Aid for the 14th.

14th Street Bridge Open!
On September 3, 2009, the Georgia Department of Transportation opened the bridge to traffic, nearly four months ahead of schedule.
The southbound I-75 and southbound I-85 entrance ramps to 14th Street and Techwood Drive are also open. The new exit ramp to 17th St. is expected to open early 2010.
The new wider and longer bridge features dedicated turning lanes, raised landscape medians, and 15-foot wide sidewalks. Pedestrian improvements on 14th St. begin at Fowler St. continuing across the bridge to West Peachtree Street.
